Kruger National Park
The Kruger National Park, Africa’s first wildlife reserve, was established
in 1898 to protect the rapidly decreasing fauna. The national park is South Africa’s
largest, and is unquestionably one of the best wildlife sanctuaries in the world.
This vast wilderness covers an area of 19 633 sq km, equivalent in size to Israel
or Wales.
The Park is home to 147 species of mammal
(including all of the most prestigious African
mammals), 507 of birds, 336 of trees, 49
of fish, 34 of amphibian and 114 of reptile.
Many of the country’s most famous,
upmarket wildlife experiences are offered
on the private reserves are incorporated
in the Park. It is highly recommended that
international travellers with limited time
visit a private lodge that will provide them
with an awesome African wildlife experience
that will live with them for many years to
